Black Stallion
This is an instrumental song. I’ve only performed it live a couple of times so far, and originally it was written as a pizzicato piece. I think it works much better arco and lends itself better to expressive interpretation that way. I’m posting a link to a Finale Notepad version of the sheet music, but I’ll be able to print out and write in the bowings at work tomorrow and scan it as a pdf.
I’m calling the piece Black Stallion because it’s one of my favorite movies, and because it just reminds me of the music in that film.
2/29 UPDATE: Here’s the PDF. I was going to put in bowings and fingerings but I’m not sure if it’s necessary. If you want me to do it please let me know, but otherwise I’ll just let you figure it out and assume that’s ok.

I saw your you tube post of “shady grove” it was fantastic thats a tough piece to play on a larger thing like a cello. (im not sure if this is in the correct topic etc) in any case WELL done. Id hope that on the days that i get 1) engaged .. and 2) married i could have you come and play there. Im kind of poor but the music moved my heart. It was the first time id heard that song played like that .. the deep tones make so much body and resonence (spelling?) Ty for translating that song to cello.. it was amazing from my point of veiw.
My family name is Shaw the translation of that into the old old
version means “From the shady grove”. Its an Old Pictish name that dates from the days of the roman rule of europe. They lived in the area that is now scotland. The pics were strong ppl. there was a wall that seperated the pict area from the roman rule, and when romans and picts hunted in the area of the wall there was an agreement, that both had to hunt together.
The Kilt that PPL assoc with the scots was actually borrowed from the standard roman batle dress. Before that, all garments were full wrap around cloths or animal skins.
Again Ty for translating that song to Cello
